Information that in some way identifies you as an online user of FRNSW services may be gathered when you email us, or when you interact with our Website.
What information is collected?
When you look at this Website, the FRNSW’s Internet Service Provider and Google Analytics makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for archival and statistical purposes:
- your server address
- your top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au)
- the pages you accessed and documents downloaded
- the previous site you have visited
- the type of browser you are using.
The FRNSW also collects your contact information and details of your home audit for internal use only.
How is the information used?
The FRNSW may use the contact information you supplied and details of your home audit to enable you to be identified as a previous visitor when you make return visits to the Website; and if you agree, to allow us to make contact to assist you with further safety information.
To improve the Website and the services provided, the FRNSW also may extract and publish aggregated information about usage patterns from these records. However, we will not disclose or publish information that identifies individual machines or users, or sub-groupings of addresses, without consent or otherwise in accordance with the NSW Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002.
In addition, the FRNSW reserves the right to make disclosures to relevant authorities where the use of the Website raises a suspicion that an offence is being, or has been, committed. In the unlikely event of an investigation, the FRNSW will, as required by law, provide access to data to any law enforcement agency that may exercise a warrant to inspect our logs.
Who has access to the information?
The FRNSW uses an Internet Services Provider which collects the information as described above. The data is stored in a secure format and held by the Internet Services Provider for archival purposes.
Relevant staff within the FRNSW may also access contact information and home audit details for the purposes indicated above.
Your email address will only be used or disclosed for the purpose for which you have provided it. It will not be added to a mailing list or used or disclosed for any other purpose without your consent.
Users are advised that there are inherent risks in transmitting information across the Internet.
