Home / Home Improvement / 6 Places You Probably Overlook When Cleaning

There are plenty of places in your home could be overlooking when you perform your usual cleaning routine. Don’t beat yourself up about it, it happens to the best of us. Especially with those less obvious nooks and crannies. Here’s a list of places that people often ignore when cleaning- which one applies to you?

Window Screens

Take a look at your window. If it has bars, can you truly say that there isn’t a lining of cobwebs and dust over it? And what about that window sill? If you were to open that window on a breeze day, you’re guaranteed to give your whole room a good dusty atmosphere. Simply run a vacuum over the dust or pop it open and wash it down with your garden hose from the other side! But don’t forget to run a damp cloth over the sill as well!

Sink Stoppers

Have you ever removed the sink stopper from the bottom of the sink to clean it? Never? Then a horrifying sight awaits you but you might as well get it out of the way right now. Hair, soap, dirt and various other bacteria that is washed down the sink comes into contact with this and also tend to cling to it. So it’s best that you actually scrub it with disinfectant at least once a month since this is a good breeding source for bacteria.

Laundry Baskets

Do you use the same laundry basket for dirty clothes and washed ones? It might seem like a harmless action but if you think about it, it’s one that really defeats the purpose of washing your clothes. Using it for dirty clothes, leaves behind dirt and bacteria. If you have kids and you put their sweaty clothes in this basket, then you know where you’re going wrong. Wipe the basket down if you’re using it both ways!

Under The Bed

Do you have that one family member with severe dust allergies who sneezes every time she walks into your room? You look around and your room is squeaky clean but there’s one place you’ve forgotten- under the bed. Underneath your bed can be storage for various belongings of yours but also a home for dust mites, cobwebs and spiders. Remember to pull everything out every once in a while, dust it and vacuum thoroughly. Like above, if you have a family member allergic to dust you might want to do this more often.

Fans

Whether a ground fan or a ceiling fan, these can easily accumulate dust on their blades. Clean your fans at least every three months to avoid having a gust of dusty air circulating in your room.

Roofing

Sometimes you’re too busy cleaning inside your house that you forget to see to what’s on top. Your roof could be damaged and you wouldn’t even know about it until a leak emerged or some other catastrophe!
