Home / Home Improvement / Your Guide to Setting Up a Minimalistic Kitchen

There are a lot of reasons why setting up a minimalistic kitchen is a great idea. Not only does it add a modern feel, it can also help to de-clutter your kitchen, making it more efficient. Now, there are a lot of misconceptions associated with the term ‘minimalism’ so you may not be entirely sure how to go about this project. Well, you don’t need to worry as this article will tackle what you need to know:

Keep Things Away

One of the main things to focus on with a minimalistic theme is a clean look and feel. So, it really will not do to have appliances and gadgets strewn all over your kitchen. Of course, at the same time, you need these machines to cook food and make your life easier in general. Well, the solution here is proper storage. This means that you should consider a built in microwave, fridge, oven, coffee maker, and more. Thus, while these appliances will remain within reach, they won’t be taking up any additional space. For toasters, blenders, mixers, and such you should try appliance garages instead. Here, folding or rolling doors will be used to conceal these appliances so that they don’t cause your kitchen to look messy.

Get Rid of Useless Gadgets

There are so many different gadgets or utensils out there that promise to make your prep work or cooking a lot easier to manage. At some point or another, you probably believed the advertisements and purchased your fair share of these gadgets. There is a good chance that they are laying somewhere, unused, however. This is why it is time to get rid of any of the gadgets that don’t actually contribute to your cooking experience in any way. If you still need them but they don’t really relate to the kitchen, you will need to move them elsewhere.

Only Keep the Dishes That You Need

If you are like most people, you probably have dozens of plates, cups, bowls, and more in your kitchen. In fact, this may be the case even if you are the only one living at your home! Now, you can’t exactly get rid of all of your dishes since you may need them when you invite people over. Nonetheless, this doesn’t mean that you should keep them in your kitchen. So, only keep a set of dishes for each person in the house. Then, put the others in storage – somewhere they are hidden but still accessible. This way, you get the best of both worlds.

Throw Away Old Utensils

If you were to go through your cooking and dining utensils, you will quickly realise that there is an excess of items. What’s more, you may have had many of these for years. This also means that you have several old knives, forks that are bent out of shape, and unusable spoons. Well, now’s the time to clear this out. If you haven’t used it in the last few months, then there is a good chance that you will not be using them ever again. Also, if they are broken or unsightly, then these need to be discarded as well.

These are all of the tips and tricks that you need to know about when constructing a minimalistic yet functional kitchen for yourself.
